Mushroom growers are deeply rooted in Gutian County, Fujian Province of China

Gutian County, Fujian Province of China was born with superior conditions for mushroom cropping, in virtues of the kindness given by nature, and the endeavour on scientific research, cultivation, processing, marketing and whole industry chain, Gutian County puts forth efforts on promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional agriculture and stimulating high value-added mushroom industry.
As “The Famous Capital of Mushroom in China”, especially on aspect of White fungus production and processing, Gutian County occupies the leading position in China’s and global White fungus industry. In 2017, gross production on White fungus came to 350,000 tons in the county, which accounted for above 90% of that of the world, besides, the county also ranked China’s first place regarding cultivation scale, output value and export, products were sold well to over 20 nations and regions in Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, America and Oceania.
“In Gutian County, mushroom cropping began to emerge in Sui Dynasty, in the 1970s, bag-pattern mushroom cultivation technology was pioneered for the first time, in the 1990s, Black fungus cultivation was also realized, the continuation of mushroom cultivation technology undoubtedly lays a solid foundation in Gutian County,” introduces Mr. Yu Xinlin, deputy head of the People’s Government of Gutian County, going on that in Gutian County, 70% of labor force engage in mushroom production, supply and marketing, 70% of gross agricultural output value are sourced from mushroom industry, which proves that mushroom farming has become the PILLAR INDUSTRY within the county.
In 2017, gross output on various fresh mushrooms came to 808,000 tons and mushroom output value reached 5.17 billion CNY in Gutian County. Within the county, there are over 300,000 population plunging in mushroom industry, of which 30,000 households concentrate on below-the-line mushroom marketing, marketing network spreads to all over China, and dozens of nations and regions in Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe and America.
