On August 30, Pleurotus geesteranus cultivated in Bajiao Village, Tongnan District, Chongqing City of China are in peak harvest season. By now, over 15,000 kg of fresh mushrooms have been sold to local and surrounding markets.
“We input 60,000 bags in 10 growing rooms of the base, under suitable temperature range of 15-25 degrees Celsius, growth cycle of anti-season Pleurotus geesteranus is shortened by half compared with traditional cycle (Over 50 days). Now, Anti-season Pleurotus geesteranus are in short supply, the present wholesale price reaches 14 CNY per kg. In the base, picking period is estimated to end by early September, and the expected gross output value hits above 500,000 CNY,” said principal of the base warmly.
Pleurotus geesteranus growing holds low costs under constant temperature, in the case of high-temperature or sub-zero weather, a closed and vertical room that occupies 450 square meters costs 10,000 CNY at most on electricity from cultivation to picking (About 4 months). In addition, Pleurotus geesteranus produced via the pattern show even, orderly and attractive appearance while another superiority on the pattern is its controllable growth. When the market price is in a relatively low situation, temperature of growing room could be regulated at 15 or below 15 degrees Celsius so as to keep mycelia from growing and mushroom fruiting while nutrients contained in mushroom bags could be retained as well.
