Shiitake cultivation is a significant way for farmers in Shangluo to make profits. After the development for several years, the area of Shiitake cultivation increases. Local farmers has built a cold storage of more than 180 cubic meters.
Currently, after picked, Shiitake is sent to the cold storage at once. It can be kept fresh for 10 to 15 days. Moreover, fresh Shiitake can be purchased by much more consumers with a high price. Fresh Shiitake mushroom is sold for 12 CNY/kg, and the dry Shiitake is sold for 60 CNY/kg. But every 3-3.5 kg fresh Shiitake can only make 0.5 kg dry ones. As a lot of farmers said, Shiitake cultivation is promising. Due to the cold storage, mushroom farmers are much more enthusiastic about it.
