Guangdong: Dongguan Food and Drug Authority issues an early warning for poisonous mushrooms

On March 11th, the second early warning for food security was issued by Dongguan Food and Drug Authority. It aims to alert citizens not to eat poisonous mushrooms in the high-occurrence season of mushrooms toxicity. Citizens should not pick, eat, buy or sell wild mushrooms.
According to related documents, there are more than 100 mushroom species in China, ten of them are poisonous and could make people to death. The common poisonous mushrooms are Lepiota brunneo-incarnata and Amanita verna. The shape of poisonous and edible mushrooms are similar, thus, it is difficult to be distinguished, and the toxicity accidents happens frequently. Edible mushroom production technology is increasing developed, nutrition and taste of the mushroom sold in market and wild mushrooms are equally matched. If people want to experience the fun of picking mushrooms, mushroom base and picking garden are much better to be taken into consideration.
