New technology: Improving Skiitake yield in winter

2015-01-29 13:34:14
In winter, low temperature usually makes bagged-cultivation Skiitake not to bud and have a low yield. If hot water is used to soak spawn piece, Skiitake yield would increase by 100%. This methods are detailed as follows:
1, selecting spawn piece. Fully spawn-running pieces or tubes with completely turning color and no pollution are chosen for treatment. If the old skin on spawn piece is too thick, it is necessary to scratch it, and let it to be healed before selected.
2, soaking. To be soaked in hot water is an ideal way to stimulate Skiitake spawn to bud in winter. Spawn pieces or tubes are soaked in hot water at 18-33℃ for 3-5 hours. Soaked spawn pieces or tubes are covered with plastic film to keep its temperature up to budding, then ventilating. Hot water at 18-33℃ could be sprayed on spawn piece if air temperature is low, then plastic film could be used to increase internal temperature for benefiting Skiitake growth.
3, Skiitake harvest and nutrition supply. Temperature should be kept for soaked spawn piece, mushroom bud would grow out of spawn piece, ventilation is needed to increase air relative humidity, the first yield would be harvested 10-17 days later. After first harvest, Skiitake piece should be fully dried for 7-15 days, then soaked with hot water again. After the second harvest, Skiitake piece should be supplemented with some nutrients such as urea, KH2PO4, soybean milk, and rice-washed water, etc.
