Features presented on China’s mushroom market (Part One)

1. Traditional Farmer-household Production is Still the Main Pattern: Among the three production patterns that refer to Traditional Farmer-household Production, Enterprise + Farmer Household and Factory-mode Production, the first one which shows low industry concentration is still the main pattern in China. Nowadays, there are over 500 main counties for mushroom production in China, there are above 2000 enterprises engaging in mushroom production and marketing, of which 250 companies hold the daily output capacity of above 1 ton. In 2013, China’s gross mushroom output reached 31.70 million tons, of which factory-mode mushroom products occupied 2.05 million tons, with 7% of proportion.

2. Low Degree on Factory-mode Production and Huge Development Space: In China, degree on factory-mode mushroom production was relatively low before 2006, since 2006, as consumer demand of mushroom constantly goes up, factory-mode mushroom production has been leading the prosperous development tendency while proportion of production has been steadily rising. By September of 2014, there were 729 enterprises engaging in factory-mode mushroom production, which is 16 times higher than that of 2006. From 2006 to 2014, annual output on factory-mode mushroom was increased from 80,000 tons to 1.95 million tons in China, with the CAGR of 49%.
