Smashed apple tree branches are treasures for mushroom cropping

In recent years, during the adjustment process of agricultural structure, Lingbao City, Henan Province of China vigorously strengthens modern agriculture, positively guides farmers to plunge into mushroom growing. Up to now, gross scale of mushroom production has reached 110 million bags, gross mushroom output hit 110,000 tons while output value come to 1.2 billion CNY.
“Lingbao City is famous for apples and it holds over 100 years of history on apple cultivation. In the past, apple growers used to manage apple garden and generate stable incomes. However, in recent years, supply of apples cultivated in Lingbao City exceeds the demand, which leads to low price and poor sales,” introduces one of growers within Lingbao City. “Over the years, Shiitake mushrooms are seen as the treasure that promotes a better life, therefore, many apple growers decidedly abandon apple cultivation and launch into mushroom cropping by smashed apple tree branches. Shiitake mushrooms cultivated through the pattern are nutritious, superior and are preferred by local consumers.”
