Environmental conditions on Coprinus comatus cultivation

2018-10-17 16:19:43

Coprinus comatus is known as Shaggy mane, it is a kind of rare mushroom artificially developed in China and holds abundant nutrition, tender and tasty flavor and enormous commercial potentials.
In the 1970s, artificial cultivation of Coprinus comatus began to emerge in western countries, and the technology got succeeded in the 1980s in China. By virtues of short growth period, high biological conversion rate and easy cultivation technology, Coprinus comatus cropping is especially suitable for rural areas of China.
Environmental conditions:
1. NUTRITION: Coprinus comatus is a kind of Grass-rot Faecal fungus which holds strong adaptability. Straw, wheat straw, cottonseed hull, cow dung, horse dung and other broad-leaf sawdust could be utilized as raw materials for Coprinus comatus cultivation. Mature-material Cultivation, Fermented-material Cultivation and Raw-material Cultivation are all feasible.
2. TEMPERATURE: Suitable temperature for growth of mycelia is 20-28 degrees Celsius and the preferred range is 24-27 degrees Celsius. In addition, low-temperature stimulation is required for the formation of fruiting bodies, primordia quickly form when temperature drops to below 20 degrees Celsius. And, temperature range for the fruiting is 9-28 degrees Celsius and the optimal range is 12-18 degrees Celsius. When it reaches to over 20 degrees Celsius, stems quickly extend and evolve, fruiting bodies show the most desirable growth situation at a temperature range of 16-22 degrees Celsius.
Mycelia of Coprinus comatus carry strong cold resistance, mycelia live through the winter in the soil at 30 degrees below zero while fruiting bodies are hard to form at below 8 degrees Celsius and above 30 degrees Celsius.
3. HUMIDITY: Ideal water content of compost is at a range of 65%-70%, which fits for growth of mycelia. During the fruiting stage, 85%-90% of relative air humidity is required.
4. ILLUMINATION & VENTILATION: During the differentiation period of mushroom buds, 300-500 lux of illumination is needed while sufficient oxygen is also required.
5. PH VALUE: Coprinus comatus cares for neutral and slightly-alkaline substance, suitable range of PH Value on compost and earthing is 7.0-7.5.
6. SOIL: Microorganism and mineral substance contained in soil stimulate the fruiting of Coprinus comatus, thus earthing up is needed.
