Yunnan Province of China: Growing mushrooms can be a lucrative, growing business

Located in southeast of Yunnan Province, Qiubei County holds a long history, distinctive location, abundant nutriton, and it is the famous Vegetable County in China. Along with the constant maturation of mushroom cultivation technology, nutritional value of mushroom has been sinking into people’s hearts. Over the years, artificial mushroom cultivation also shows fast-moving development tendency.
Brazil mushroom carries short growth period, broad market prospect and considerable economic revenues. In October, 2017, Brazil mushroom cultivation was introduced to Shupi Village of Qiubei County for the first time, and its sowing work was started in May, 2018 while the first batch of fresh mushroom came into market in July with the market price of 7.5 CNY per kg.
In Qiubei County, varieties for artificial mushroom cultivation cover Brazil mushroom, Enoki mushroom and Morel mushroom. Now, gross area for mushroom cultivation totals 100 mu, 218 greenhouses which occupy 195,000 square meters are built, in each greenhouse, the minimum pure incomes hit 14,900 CNY and the maximum status reaches 32,400 CNY. Considerable economic benefit greatly stimulates the farmers’ enthusiasm for cultivation, and plays a crucial importance on promotion of precise poverty removal.
