Recently, Agrocybe cylindracea mushrooms interplanted in corn field are orderly in growth process in Linyi County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province of China.
“Growth of corn creates the suitable environment for Agrocybe cylindracea on temperature, humidity and illumination. Agrocybe cylindracea mushroom is categorized into medium-temperature type, the optimal temperature range for growth of mycelia is 23-28 degrees Celsius and mycelia stop the growth at above 34 degrees Celsius. In addition, the suitable temperature range for the differentiation of primordia of sporocarp is 12-26 degrees Celsius, and the optimal range is 18-24 degrees Celsius,” introduces related principal warmly, adding that Agrocybe cylindracea is also aerobic and it is sensitive to carbon dioxide, hence poor ventilation easily results in tardy growth of mycelia, or even outputs malformed mushrooms.
Now, main raw materials for substrate of Agrocybe cylindracea include corncob, cotton slag, cottonseed hull and so on. In the field, each mushroom bag contains 0.35 kg of dried materials. Besides, in China, Agrocybe cylindracea shows desirable market quotation and gains popularity by general consumers, and the present market price of fresh Agrocybe cylindracea is at 2.5 CNY per kg. Interplanting between corn and Agrocybe cylindracea generally increases 10,000 CNY of revenues in each mu of field, and, thanks to frequent watering and good ventilation, mu output of corn could be lifted to 200-300 kg. After the cropping, mushroom residues could be reused as organic fertilizers through simple fermentation.
