Hubei Province of China: Cultivation of Black fungus and Shiitake thrives

On June 6, staffs working in Xingfa Specialized Mushroom Cooperative are engaged with Black fungus picking.
Known as “The Hometown of Mushroom,” Black fungi and Shiitakes cultivated in Fang County, Hubei Province of China have attained the certification of “European union Product of Geographical Indication”, gotten the export permit to EU, and they respectively hold the brand value of 501 million and 443 million CNY.
Now, there are over 60,000 farmers engaged in Shiitake and Black fungus industry, annual average output on superior mushroom comes to nearly 20,000 tons, products are sold well to USA, Japan and other 18 nations and regions, average annual revenues hit 250 million CNY, annual earnings in hard currency attain 90 million USD while per capita incomes reach 1200 CNY.
