Xixia City, Henan Province: Volume of Shiitake export leads a sustained growth

In recent days, there has been a hot transaction scene in Henan Shuanglong Shiitake Market.

In 2005, Shiitakes cultivated in Xixia County, Henan Province were firstly exported to oversea nations. From 2005 to 2017, value of Shiitake export was raised to 643 million USD from 3 million USD, which indicates 217 times of increase. In addition, Shiitakes cultivated in Xixia County have been taking the lead for successive 5 years on export of food and agricultural products in Henan Province.

Now, there are 200,000 farmers engaging in Shiitake production and operation in Xixia County, 60% of farmers’ per-capita incomes are sourced from Shiitake industry within the county. Shiitake growing has also become one of crucial industries which promote local masses to end poverty and grow prosperous. Besides, in Xixia County, export countries of Shiitake have been broadened to Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan from India, Vietnam, Korea and Japan.

In the future, Xixia County is going to establish service platform, develop further scientific research and trade cooperation with nations alongside “One Belt One Road” with the cooperation of Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Taking advantage of “One Belt One Road”, Xixia County confidently holds the faith in building itself into “The Best Shiitake Producing Area in the World.”
