Mushroom cooperative propels poor households to end poverty

Mr. Liu Wenchang, one of septuagenarians in Gengxin Village, Hailun City, Heilongjiang Province of China, has never thought that local mushroom cooperative would make a big difference to his later life.
Since 2015, Mr. Liu has been engaged in mushroom cultivation in Hailun Gengxin Mushroom Cooperative, doing a series of works such as water-spraying and boiler-handling gains the annual payback of nearly 30,000 CNY, besides, his wife also gets jobs in the cooperative as a mushroom picker, annual incomes reach 5000-6000 CNY.
Hailun Gengxin Mushroom Cooperative was founded in 2013. In 280 mu of area, the cooperative embarked on Black fungus cultivation in 2014, and the scale has been constantly expanded after 200,000 bags of successful trial cultivation. Now, 2 vegetable cooperatives have joined in Hailun Cooperative, which helps broaden the cultivation scale to 5 million bags.
At present, annual output on dried Black fungus comes to 250,000 kg, output value reaches 12 million CNY while pure profits obtain 5 million CNY in Gengxin Cooperative. Black fungi produced there are always in short supply by virtues of superior quality and attractive appearance.
Black fungus cultivation has been determined as one of the ten poverty-alleviation industries in Hailun City, now, there are above 48 poor households engaging in mushroom industry and annual per capita incomes obtain 6000-8000 CNY.
