Hubei Province of China: It is the fruiting season of Shiitake

For recent days, in Pingtianyan Standardized Mushroom Base of Yichang City, Hubei Province of China, over 10 villagers have been engaged with the picking work of Shiitake.
“Temperature suddenly drops and there exists large difference in temperature between day and night since autumn, which quite fits for growth of Shiitake,” introduces principal of mushroom base, adding that this batch of Shiitakes are high in quality and attractive in appearance, the expected average market price could reach 9 CNY per kg or so.
Pingtianyan Standardized Mushroom Base takes the lead in adopting sand-covering cultivation technology, which greatly lifts the rate of survival on bag-materials while reducing the risk on bag-burning. According to one of local large-scale growers, till now, 24,000 sand-covered bags have basically survived, 9kg of Shiitakes could be produced from 10 bags, the expected gross income reaches over millions of CNY.
