Sichuan Province: Bamboo fungus picking fevers

Now, it is the harvest season of Bamboo fungus in Xuyong County, Sichuan Province of China, villagers are busily engaged with the picking work.
“50 kg of dried Bamboo fungi could be harvested in each mu of land while the market price is at 500 CNY per kg, after deducting costs on strain, land, labor force and others, pure profits total at least 10,000 CNY per mu,” said one of local mushroom mavens passionately.
For recent years, along with the considerable marketing of green foods, sales volume on various under-forest mushrooms has been significantly increasing year by year. Xuyong County holds over 1.3 million mu of bamboo forest, which implies rich resource on under-forest mushroom cultivation. In 2016, total output value on under-forest cultivation reached 130 million CNY.
