Coprinus comatus pertains to medium and high temperature-type variety, the superior growth temperature range is 16-24 degrees. In natural world, sporocarps grow when the temperature is above 10 degrees, therefore, Coprinus comatus cultivation could be realized from March to October in each year.
1. Temperature management: The temperature range that fits for the germination of Coprinus comatus is 22-26 degrees and the superior temperature is 24 degrees. Besides, the growth temperature range for spawns is 3-35 degrees while the superior level is 24-28 degrees. Spawns refuse to freeze to death in below -10 but hold slow growth trend, and when the temperature is above 35 degrees, spawns stop growing and become aged quickly. When the temperature reaches to 40 degrees, spawns turn withered and dead. Therefore, during the fruiting period, it is best to control natural temperature in a range of 10-28 degrees. A series of work such as cooling-down and warming-up should be done in high temperature or low temperature weather.
2. Moisture management technology: After earthing up on mushroom surface, cultivator should gradually humidify on soil moisture and adjust the water content to 18%. The standard is that there is no white heart in soil grain, no hand-sticky and make spawns stretch into soil layer quickly and grow in soil layer. You should spray water lightly to supplement moisture and keep moist in accordance with temperature, water content in soil layer and growth condition of spawns. After 10-15 days, primordia form in large quantities on fungus bed, on that occasion, the amount of water-spraying should be lifted so as to meet the need of growth on sporocarps. Along with the growth and expansion of sporocarps, you could spray at least 2000-2500ml of water in each square meter per day. After picking the first flush of mushroom, be sure to stop spraying water within 2-3 days, which fits for the growth recovery of spawns. After the next flush of mushroom, you could gradually enhance the amount of water-spraying and conduct round management. When spraying water, be sure to avoid accumulated drops of water, do it in a repeat and small-quantity way. During the growth period of substrate, the water content should be in 60%-70%, 65% is the superior status while the relative air humidity should be kept in about 80%.
3. Ventilation management: Coprinus comatus is a kind of aerobic fungus, strong respiration is evident in physical activity, which refers to absorbing oxygen and emitting carbon dioxide. Ventilation management of Coprinus comatus is different from others, too strong ventilation should be avoided, or scales on the surface of mushroom bodies obviously increase, which affects the appearance of commodity. When spraying water on mushroom bed, be sure to enhance the ventilation. After that, it is best not to close doors and windows in a hurry but do it after at least 1 hour, in case of high temperature, you could hang wet straw mats on both sides of windows and doors and try to maintain a high environmental humidity in mushroom greenhouse. High air humidity is apparent in rainy day, hence ventilation time could be moderately extended. All in all, mushroom cultivators should not only remain fresh air and sufficient oxygen, but also prevent more intense changes in a short time on micro-climate environment and remain a relative steady state in micro-environment, which fits for normal growth and development of sporocarps.
4. Measures on pest elimination: It is efficient to set up fly net so as to prevent various pests.
5. Set up sunshade net: Strong light exposure shows inhibition effect to the growth of spawns, it could also accelerate the aging speed of spawns, hence you should avoid direct sunlight. In summer, set up sunshade greenhouse in 2.5-3 meters of upward side of mushroom greenhouse, the requirement refers to airtight and light-proof. In addition, you could also cover a layer of plastic film on mushroom greenhouse to prevent rainwater. Then, cover another layer of plastic film, the edge should exceed 3 meters of cultivation field. And relative air humidity under greenhouse should not be too high, the relative air humidity in medium part of sunshade greenhouse should be no more than 95% while the surrounding relative air humidity should be in 75% or so.
