The big trouble on Straw mushroom cultivation - Black Mould

The scientific name of Black Mould refers to “Alternaria spp,” it is one of common sundry fungi that can be found during the cultivation period of Straw mushroom, Oyster mushroom, Shiitake and other varieties. Black Mould holds strong adaptation ability, wide distribution and often lives on organic substances.
Symptom: Substrates appear black or deep green fluffy. At last, it results in rotten, black compost and inhibits the growth of spawns. The difference between Black Mould and Aspergillus niger is that Black Mould presents the shape of villus or powder and the colony of Aspergillus niger presents granular, loose and coarse.
Characteristics: there are many varieties of Black Mould, some of them own certain morbidity and exist in soil, air and all kinds of organic substances which can be taken as compost. It also holds the characteristic of wide distribution, after getting matured, conidium floats in the air. Halfway sterilization of compost, too much water content and substandard operation process connive the growth of conidium.
Control method:
1. Fungi bed should be set away from animal manure which contains organic substances.
2. Control the temperature and humidity of mushroom house, remain a moderate environmental health and destroy the living environment of Black Mould.
3. Choose materials which are fresh, dried and free from mould as compost, control the proportion of bran and rice bran in 10% when mixing materials.
4. When you mix materials, be sure to choose 25% or 50% of Carbendazim, which accounts for 0.2% weight of dried materials, or use 0.2% of Thiophanate methyl.
