The continuous high temperature causes crop failure and price hike of Shiitake

“The Shiitake price has climbed from 3.5 CNY to 5 CNY per kg,” complained by a housewife who searches for vegetables in a large open fair in Tongnan District, Chongqing City.
According to know, since the Spring Festival, the Shiitake price has been showing rising tendency in varying degrees and the highest situation has reached 5 CNY per kg. As presented by the Price Monitoring System, the wholesale price hiked for 20% or so.
“Last year, we could ship nearly 50kg and earn more than 1000 CNY per day, but now, 1000 CNY could be earned in every few days,” reveals by the principal of local mushroom base.
Relevant experts from Tongnan Agricultural Department pointed out that the reason of price hike are on account of the continuous high temperature and persistent drought which result in the partial reduction on mushroom output, besides, the back flow of citizens has also given rise to strong demand of Shiitake market and driven the tendency of price hike.
