Button mushroom cultivation - Turn cow dung into wealth

“A few years ago, i surprisingly found that cow dungs are the superior materials on mushroom cultivation, which could not only lower the costs, but also solve the pollution issue,” says one of Button mushroom farmers in Huashan Village, Fengdu County, Sichuan province, adding that the cultivated Button mushrooms are in superior quality, considerable appearance and have occupied stronger market competitiveness.
According to relevant director, Fengdu County is the great county of cows and the annual breeding stock could be above 200,000. Utilizing the dungs to cultivate Button mushrooms facilitates turning wastes into wealth, abating dung pollution while assisting farmers to generate incomes, thus can yet be regarded as a splendid industry that benefits people.
According to incomplete statistics, so far this year, Fengdu County has cultivated 2000 mu of Button mushrooms with the consumption of 11,000 tons of dried cow dungs which equal to the annual dung production of 10,000 cows.
