It is hot, rainy and damp in summer and easy to breed bacterias, which bring losses to the production of Oyster mushroom. The followings are six tricks to control sour and rot on the compost of Oyster mushroom in summer
1. Compost such as straw, corncob and bran should be fresh and free from mould, before using, people could expose materials under the blazing sun for 3 days.
1. Choose smaller plastic bags which hold the diameter of under 20cm to cultivate Oyster mushroom, stack for one layer and avoid overlap when conducting spawn running, which facilitates heat dissipation.
2. Add lime to increase PH Value to 8.5-9, which facilitates creating the environment that is not good for the growth and propagation of Geotrichum candidum  When preparing compost.
3. Maintain ventilation and fresh air to facilitate the growth of Oyster mushroom.
4. The dark environment should be remained during the growth period of spawns, people could use black cloth and straw matting to block window and door, but certain scattered light is needed during the formation period of mushroom buds.
5. Implement double reducing:
A. Lower the humidity: in general, the humidity of compost should be adjusted in 60%-65% in winter and spring. But in summer cultivation, it should be reduced to 50%-55%.
B. Lower the temperature in the cultivation land of Oyster mushroom, people could plant trees, plant towel gourd or build higher fence in the surrounding land. What’s more, when the temperature is higher than 30 degrees, people could hang wet gauze or spray water in the place of ventilation to lower the temperature.
