Cultivating Shiitakes prevails over outside employment

Recently, in the mushroom base of Guizhou Province, China, farmers are gladly delivering their Shiitakes.
It is learned that since the establishment of July, 2014, Anqing Mushroom Company has totally invested 1.28 billion CNY in core area and created the biggest organic mushroom base in the whole province and even all over the world. The first phase has the total investment of 90 million CNY and 407 production greenhouses has been built in the base. The total 12,000 square meters include main functional areas such as fungus sack production, sterilization, strain cultivation, inoculation, selection, cold storage, R&D and drying. The company sells fungus sacks to farmers with the price of 4.5 CNY and sets a minimum acquisition of 6 CNY. Moreover, each greenhouse can cultivate 9000 fungus sacks in one-season and farmers can get a minimum income of 13,500 CNY.
“Two greenhouses are held by our family, in normal condition, the pure income of each greenhouse is more than 20,000 CNY, which prevails over outside employment,” says one of local farmers passionately, who has picked more than 1000 kg of Shiitake and earned more than 20,000 CNY by selling to the company with the price of 10 CNY per kg. Other farmers also revealed that the cultivation of Shiitake reasurres them and the income is considerable.
