Now, Huangling County possesses 200,000 acre of apple garden, more than 4000 tons of apple twigs were cut every year, which provide abundant raw material for local mushroom farmers.
One of Shiitake farmers, Kou indicated that it is a good thing to utilize apple twigs to cultivate Shiitake, apple farmers can not only sell apples for money, but also can sell apple twigs for money. What’s more, raw material for cultivating Shiitakes can be taken as organic fertilizer, which is both beneficial to apple farmers and mushroom farmers. This year, Kou is preparing to develop the scale of Shiitake to 1 million and the anticipated annual income can reach to more than 10 million CNY.
