Use wasted banana leaves to cultivate mushroom and win the championship of “Enactus China”

It is reported that “2016 Enactus Social Innovation Contest of The National Finals” was held in Shanghai, China and the project of “Jin xiu zhu sha” from Sun Yat-Sen University won the championship. The project is on fermentation of banana leaves, then they are made into raw materials that can utilized in mushroom cultivation and solve local pollution problem.
“Jin xiu zhu sha” group found that many banana leaves and traditional processing methods cause severe pollution. Through building production cooperative, organizing local villagers to cultivate mushroom by using banana wastes, they effectively solved the problem of redundant banana leaves and opened new channels for farmers to increase income.
According to information, Enactus was established in 1975, it is a global non-profit organization that links academic, business and community. The purpose of the project is to make alliance with colleagues, corporate volunteers and encourage them to make contributions for community with the spirit of entrepreneurship.
